I became a part of the YCS committee in March 2021, initially serving as the treasurer to the standing committee. I continued in the role of treasurer within the management committee until March 2023 when I assumed the position of Chair. With 35 years of leadership experience in retail and property management, I am committed to preserving our village's post office. Since settling in Sutton Bonington in 2015, I've found fulfilment in supporting our community during my semi-retirement.
Transitioning from a career in HR management at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, I joined the YCS Committee in March 2022. As the Secretary, my responsibilities include guiding the Committee on governance matters, organizing meetings, and managing shareholder communications. I am honoured to contribute to the continued operation of our village's post office and remain dedicated to serving the community where I've lived since 2005.
With a familial connection to the village since the mid-eighties, I relocated to Sutton Bonington in 2019 to join the efforts to preserve our valuable community assets. My background in the marine industry informs my commitment to volunteerism, alongside my full-time consultancy work.
Since 1975, I've been an integral part of the Sutton Bonington community, contributing to initiatives such as the SB Riding Club and serving as a Parish Councillor. As a longstanding member of YCS, I am devoted to ensuring the prosperity of our post office and gift shop, alongside fundraising efforts for Rainbows Hospice.
As Treasurer since the Summer of 2023, I am committed to leveraging my financial expertise to support the growth and sustainability of YCS. With nearly 30 years in the village, I am dedicated to enhancing community life through active participation in various initiatives.
Joining the YCS committee in March 2022, I recognized the significance of preserving our village's post office. My role involves curating a diverse range of products to encourage local support and sustain our community's vital services. With over three decades in Sutton Bonington, I've been actively engaged in various community groups.
Residing in Kingston on Soar for 39 years, I've witnessed the loss of a similar shop and post office in our community, underscoring the value of YCS. After retiring from the Medical School in Nottingham, I've remained deeply committed to supporting initiatives like YCS that enhance community life.
Since joining the YCS committee in October 2023, I've focused on bolstering public relations and marketing initiatives. Crafting engaging social media content and creative strategies, I aim to showcase the exceptional offerings of YCS. Relocating from Belfast in 2015, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to our vibrant community enterprise.
I have lived in Sutton Bonington for over 25 years. I was involved at the start of the project to buy the Post Office and Gift Shop and was Secretary for the first year. I have re-joined as I believe strongly in Your Community Shop and hope to help by developing partnerships and identifying new opportunities to ensure the long term future of the shop.
